Complaints factor into matching: after repeated complaints a company is removed from the platform. What a cleaner does in your home is something you agree together — we are not a party to that.

When a private individual hires someone for household work in and around the home on a limited number of days per week, that falls under the Dutch Regeling dienstverlening aan huis. In that situation the customer and the cleaner make their arrangements between themselves, and obligations apply to the customer too — among them the minimum wage and continued pay during holidays and illness. Weekly or fortnightly are the common rhythms. Weekly suits a larger household, pets or a busy family; fortnightly is often enough for a small household or a flat. In doubt: start fortnightly and step it up if you notice things falling behind.

Not necessarily. Many people arrange a key or a key safe after a few visits. For the first visit and the introduction it helps to be there: you walk through the house together and agree which tasks are included and what you would rather do yourself.

Ask about this before you start, because it is one of the biggest differences between a company and a self-employed cleaner — and agree at the same time how you cancel when it does not suit you.
